Together is a internationally recognized early childhood music program that has
been serving families since 1987. Through ongoing research and development,
the program continues to evolve and expand. Music Together touches thousands of
families worldwide by bringing music-making into family life. What are
Music Together classes like?Six to 12 children, each accompanied by one
or both parents or primary caregivers come together for 45 minutes once a week
for 10 weeks. Songs from the current collection are presented through a variety
of musical activities which incorporate:
- Playful
ways to focus on the tonal and rhythmic elements of the music
- Small and
large movement
- Instrumental free play
- Use of props (scarves, balls,
etc.)
- Opportunities for improvisation by children and parents
What
does Music Together offer my family?- First, the Music Together curriculum
will expand your musical repertoire. Each of the 9 collections contains 25-30
songs, including traditional and original songs and chants from all over the world.
The curriculum is research based, and the songs balance various tonalities, meters,
and cultural styles, exposing you and your child to a wide diversity of musical
elements.
- Second, Music Together classes will be a source of ideas
for bringing music into everyday life in spontaneous, fun, and musically expanding
ways for your child. Not only will you be able to recreate most of the activities
done in class in your own home, but you will also find your own creative ways
to play and connect with your child musically.
- Finally, you will
learn about how your child learns and grows musically. You will better understand
the process by which your child can, given a musically stimulating environment
and an enthusiastic role model (you!), attain basic music competence in the first
few years of life.
